WILY: Pasta for a Purpose

Since 2015, I have served as a board member for Aunt Susie's Cancer Wellness Center for Women, an incredible non-profit that serves women in Stark County, Ohio while they are in treatment for cancer.  Aunt Susie's is located in North Canton, Ohio and was founded by Marlene Mason to honor one of her friends, Sue Darling.  I volunteer to remember my mother, Gaye Hersher, who passed away in 2012.

Aunt Susie's is run entirely by volunteers and provides services for the health and general well-being of its clients, including:

  • Transportation to and from treatments and doctor appointments
  • Meal vouchers and assistance with taxable hygiene items
  • House cleaning
  • Dignity tops as a more comfortable alternative to hospital gowns
  • Emotional support

A large portion of its budget is funded by its annual "Pasta for a Purpose" dinner.  This year's dinner is September 22 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Massillon.  The Aunt Susie's dinner is unique because it is a sit-down meal where diners are served by volunteers restaurant style.

Tickets are $10 per person and carry-out is also available.  There are several basket raffles as well as a grand raffle.

If you live in the Stark County area, please consider supporting our fundraiser.  You can contact me at dave@davidhersher.com or 330.280.6645 for tickets.  If you are not local, but would still like to support Aunt Susie's you can donate on their web site, including by PayPal.
